Touring the progress of the examinations

Today Sunday 2021/04/18, The head of the Communications Engineering Department, Assistant Prof. Dr. Afanin Anwar, did a touring of the progression of the final examinations of first semester of the academic year 2020-2021 in the department.

During the tour, she was briefed on the mechanisms used for the conduct of the examinations, the suitability of the examination questions and the plans that applied during the exams period, also she confirmed to apply the preventive measures in terms of social distancing and wearing masks to limit the spreading of epidemic.

Beside that she was appreciated the efforts that made by the examination committee, the heads of the scientific branches, the administrative assistant and all the supporting staff to make the examination process a success and to provide all the students' needs. Finally, she is wishing everyone continued success and prosperity as a benefit to our university.

Inaugurate the Optical Fiber LAB

The Department of Communications Engineering at the University of Technology inaugurated the optical fiber laboratory on Sunday Apr. 11 - 2021, with direct support from ASWAR company, and the opening was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education as well as a representative of Aswar Technical Company that installed the laboratory equipments and trained a Staff of teachers and technicians of the department. The inauguration took place in the presence of the department staff represented by the department head, the assistants and the heads of the scientific branches.

Dr. Qussay Salim who is the in charge of the laboratory staff, he presented a summary of what had been trained on and the benefits of the laboratory for undergraduate and postgraduate students in terms of practical training on the equipments currently used in This domain that increases job opportunities in the field of optical communications.

Furthermore, the head of the department Assist. Prof. Dr. Afaneen Anwer indicated about the department's future plans and the updates taking place in it in order to keep abreast of the scientific developments in the fields of communication engineering. Promoting the department's laboratories in general and the need to provide all supports from the competent authorities.

Everyone praised the role of Aswar Company for its cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to launch several free training programs to raise the level of graduates to keep pace with the requirements of the modern labor market, and it also initiated the establishment of a number of scientific laboratories in public universities.

Under the supervision of the Head of the Communication Engineering Department, Ass.Prof, Dr.Afaneen Anwar Aboud. The workshop on the quality of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) was held on tuesday 2021/1/19 where the lecture was presented by Dr. Nihad Mohammed Ameen, in the presence of the head of the Wireless communication system branch and the director of laboratories with the laboratories staff of the communication engineering department. The instructions of a Laboratory quality ranking (LQ Ranking) form and how to improve the performance of laboratories was discussed in the workshop.

A Delegation Visiting from Communications Engineering Department to the Ministry of Science and Technology

The Visit of a Delegation from the Communications Engineering Department to the Ministry of Science and Technology / Industrial Research and Development Department

 

A delegation from the Communications Engineering Department visited the Ministry of Science and Technology / Industrial Research and Development Department on Thursday 18/Feb./2021, for the purpose of initializing prospects of cooperation in the scientific and research fields. The delegation was received by the Director General of the Department of Industrial Research and Development and the Directors of the centers. At the beginning, a summary of the work of each center within the department was given. During the visit, the advanced devices and laboratories in the centers and divisions of each center were briefed. The department briefed the delegation about designing and manufacturing all circuits for radar systems, antennas, and their own transmitter and receiving systems, and building printed electronic panels for them, leading to implanting electronic parts on them, building a prototype, examining it, integrating electronic circuits, leading to manufacturing the required device or the integrated system.

General Authority meeting 2nd Dec. 2020

ززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززززThe Department of Communications Engineering / University of Technology held a meeting of the General Authority on the morning of 1, 2/12/2020, taking into account the health instructions and conditions of social distancing. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Afanin Anwar Abboud, the Assistants and the Heads of Scientific Branches. The Head of the Department congratulated the teaching staff at the end of the academic year 2019/2020, and the preparation for the new academic year 2020/2021.


Several points were presented at the meeting, including:

• Emphasizing the recommendations of the health committees, and applying the instructions of social distancing to all the employees of the department and in the laboratories and facilities of the department.

• Determining the pros and cons of the last academic year and how to overcome the cons.

• Congratulations to the teaching staff after obtaining the scientific promotion, and written thanks and appreciation from the University Presidency.

• Congratulations to the teaching staff after publishing scientific researches in reputable international journals within the SCOPUS and CLARIVATE repositories.

• Distributing assignments to the teaching staff, and determining the mechanism for dividing the academic schedule into laboratory and electronic lectures.

• Discussing the teaching staff’s working hours between attendance in laboratories or electronic lectures on the Google Meet platform.

• Encouraging and supporting the teaching staff to conduct scientific research and publish it in reputable international journals.

• The preparations for the formation of preparatory committees and supporting committees of the Department's teaching staff in early April 2021, to organize a scientific conference in conjunction with the Electrical Engineering Department and Control & Systems Engineering Department next September.

• Encouraging teaching staff to propose ideas and titles for fourth-stage students' graduation projects that keep pace with developments in the labor market.

• Instructing the scientific committees in the Scientific Branches of the Department to organize seminars, discussion sessions, and training and educational courses for the Department and University members.

• Urging students to abide by attending laboratories and electronic lectures on the Google Meet platform, and alert students if they do not attend lectures and to apply all ministerial instructions in cases of absence.

• The date of the graduation photo was determined on Thursday 12/24/2020.
