A lecturer in the Department of Communications Engineering publishes research at an international conference of the IEEE

Written by

Professor Dr. Thamer Muhammad Jameel, teaching in the Department of Communications Engineering, published a research entitled
An Overview for Channel Equalization Techniques in Filter Bank
The research was published at the ACA World Congress
2023 Second International Conference on Advanced Computer Applications (ACA), Misan, Iraq, 2023, pp. 7-12
The aim of the research paper is to provide a survey of the equalization methods used by the receiver of the FBMC OQAM wireless communication system. The research focuses on addressing challenges related to distortions such as fading, Doppler shifts, and multi-code interference that affect transmitted data symbols as they travel over the wireless channel. The paper aims to clarify the central idea, structure and process of various channel equalization algorithms proposed for communication systems to mitigate negative channel effects.
The research results confirm the importance of channel equality in achieving high data rates and reliable wireless communication in FBMC OQAM systems. It highlights the importance of addressing distortions such as fading, Doppler shifts, and multi-code crosstalk to improve the overall quality of the network. In addition, the paper provides a comprehensive survey of various future equalization approaches for the FBMC OQAM wireless communication system detailing their central ideas, architecture and operations.

Dr. Ammar Abdel Aziz Yahya writes a book in the Russian language

Written by

Dr. Ammar Abdel Aziz Yahya, a lecturer in the Department of Communications Engineering, issued his first book in the Russian language, issued by Novosibirsk State Technical University, where this book was documented and bears the international standard number (ISBN 978-5-7782-4880-9) and is under the title “Predictive Analytics and Evaluation Technical status of transformer equipment in power systems"
This book is also the beginning of scientific cooperation between the University of Technology, represented by the Department of Communications Engineering and the Russian University of Novosibirsk (NSTU).
One of the most important topics covered in the book is diagnostic monitoring systems and monitoring the technical condition of power transformers in vital energy facilities (power stations and electrical networks). Particular attention is paid to predictive analytics methods and models, allowing to ensure reliable operation of transformers, as an asset. Solutions and software are proposed that harmonize the functions of modern technical monitoring tools with increasing requirements for the reliability of diagnostic assessment of the condition of the equipment.
The book consists of five chapters, where the first chapter deals with a comparative analysis of methods and models for evaluating the technical condition and remaining life of electrical equipment. The second chapter showed the mathematical equations for developing predictive and adaptive models to evaluate the condition of transformers. The third chapter was concerned with developing basic models for monitoring the condition of transformers based on the statistical classification method. The fourth chapter also talks about information and analytical support for decision-making regarding the operation of power utility transformer equipment. Finally, in the fifth chapter, an application program has been designed, “A program to identify deviations and problems in transformers based on the results of the analysis of gases dissolved in the oil.”

A training workshop in the Communications Engineering Department

Written by

The Department of Communications Engineering held a training workshop entitled

A practical guide to writing an informative literature review

Within the skills development program in the Department of Communications Engineering, it was delivered by Dr. Hossam Hussein Ali, a lecturer in the Department of Communications Engineering, in the presence of a wide group of graduate students from various departments.
The workshop aimed to understand the purpose of reviewing scientific literature, learn ways to organize your literature, and determine potential goals for conducting the review. The steps for reviewing literature and scientific reviews were also clarified.
The workshop also included many topics, the most prominent of which are:
How to define the scope of the research field and the topic of investigation, as well as locate relevant literature, identify which methods and tools are useful and which have less potential, avoid unintended duplication of previous studies, and also put researchers in a better position to interpret the significance of their findings as well as organize the quality and relevant information that The process of writing and presenting information defines the current research and the purpose and benefits of the new research.
