The Department of Communications Engineering organizes a discussion session on the methods and techniques of guidance used to reduce extremism and ideology

Within the activities of the cultural and scientific season of the department for the year 2024-2025 and under the direct supervision of the head of the department, Assistant Professor Dr. Afanin Anwar Abboud, the Department of Communications Engineering organized a discussion session entitled "Methods and methods of guidance used to reduce thought and extremism", delivered by Assistant Professor Hussein Abdul Karim Hamas, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Ali Jabbar Salem, Head of the Optical Communications Branch, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Diaa Hassib, Head of the Wireless Communications Branch, Professor Dr. Muhammad Hussein Mari, and a large number of professors, affiliates and students of the department. The discussion session aimed to show that the concept of extremism differs from one society to another, as it is a pathological phenomenon that indicates the presence of a defect in the human psyche or in the surrounding circumstances, as the normal psyche by nature rejects extremism, fanaticism and stagnation, which means that extremism represents a departure from general norms, concepts, traditions and accepted behaviors, so that these actions and behaviors are unjustified and outside the constitution and prevailing law. He also noted the characteristics of an extremist person, which are fanaticism of opinion and group, extremism and fanaticism in opinion and not accepting dialogue with others, using violence and roughness in dealing, blind imitation of the person or group to which he belongs. She explained the most important causes of extremism, which are the economic situation, injustice, oppression and marginalization, backwardness and ignorance, social problems, indicating that there are reasons that are classified into another group of biological, psychological, social and religious reasons. As prof. lect. Hussein Abdul Karim Hamas explained, the most important methods of treating extremism in society are repentance to God and adherence to His law, adopting the method of dialogue in dealing with extremists because they have wrong thinking, working to reduce the stimuli of extremism and violence to the lowest level, caring for young people and their issues, interests and ambitions by urging them to learn and have good morals, urging them to commit to calm and self-control, encouraging good integration into society and instilling love of the homeland in their souls.
